The Game Boy (ゲームボーイ Gēmu Bōi?), is an 8-bit handheld video game device developed by Nintendo. It was released in Japan on April 21, 1989, in North America in August 1989, and in Europe on September 28, 1990. It is the first handheld console in the Game Boy line, and was created by Gunpei Yokoi and Nintendo Research & Development. Nintendo's original GameBoy console was very successful due to its long battery life, light weight and cheap price.  The follow up the GameBoy Color was released on October 21st 1998 in Japan and November 18th in North America. It allowed players to add colour to original GameBoy games by choosing from almost 13 different colour palettes (ranging from 7-10 colours each). Other new features were added to the GBC including an infrared communications port which allows data to be exchanged between systems without the use of cables.
The Game Boy and Game Boy Color combined have sold 118.69 million units worldwide. Upon its release in the United States, it sold its entire shipment of one million units within weeks. Making it one of the bestselling portable game units of all time. Now experience it on your android device.
