The Sega Saturn
A 32-bit fifth-generation video game console that was first released by Sega on November 22, 1994 in Japan, May 11, 1995 in North America, and July 8, 1995 in Europe. The Sega Saturn system was discontinued in North America and Europe in 1998, and in 2000 in Japan. The Saturn sold 17 million units worldwide. While its installed base was just over 1.6 million units in the United States at the end of 1996, its installed base in Japan was more than 6 million units. While it was popular in Japan, the Saturn failed to gain a similar market share in North America and Europe against its main competitors: Sony's PlayStation and later the Nintendo 64.
For those of you who don't remember the Saturn. Some of it's legendary titles are below, check them out.
Android Sega Saturn development (YABAUSE A.E)
A sega saturn emulator being developed has appeared online thanks to Paul Lamb of PaulsCode.com. This is going to be a port of Yabause emulator for the PC. It is very early and basic and it's very slow. But it is proof that it is being developed and hopefully this year (2012) we will see it fully working. Paul, was the guy behind creating the Xperia PLAY version of Mupen64 with full analogue touch pads and he was the one that created this port for Android. So we are filled with confidence that he is onboard the project and driving it forward.
If you would like to take part in the testing for paul project you can by running Sega Saturn games (ripped iso's for example) that you mite own on the pre-alpha test app and give some feedback to which titles work and what issues those game may have. to do this check out the links below.
Tip, anyone that trys this on an Xperia Play or with a controller of some sort you can get rid of the on-screen buttons by deleting the .png and .bmp files from
SD > ANDROID > DATA > PAULSCODE.ANDROID.YABAUSE > SKINS > GAMEPADS > YABAUSE-AE-GREY
you can donate to the project here too and thank Paul for his hard work.
If you need any help will filling it in please contact MattyGlen on pauls site.
Update (March 8th 2012)
The Yabause emulator is now Playing games in full screen with full buttons, either onscreen or hardware button mappings. There are of course at this stage still lots of issues on some titles but progress is coming thick and fast. We have done a little testing our selfs and have found that this game Albert Odyssey made by Sun corp / Sunsoft in 1996 runs perfectly with no graphic gliches at all. The only problem we have had is the speed in which it runs (very slow) at the moment. Hope to see this start to improve on his next build.

First proof of concept video, updated version vid coming soon.
You can check out the progress of this emulator at Paul Lamb's forum, where it is currency being discussed. However, if you are not particularly mindful in the field of coding, it is very confusing.
