Optimise any game for PLAY
Want to know how to turn touch only games into full Xperia PLAY optimised games?
So currently there is about 300 games that are optimised for the Xperia PLAY control pad. Thankfully, most of the best Android titles are optimised from the likes of Sega, Gameloft, EA and Rockstar. But Android has over 300-thousand apps and games and there is a few occasions I find where killer games are for touch only. At the moment Death Rally is one of my faves and I don't understand why they haven't made it for PLAY controls... sigh. So why don't I just optimise it myself! :)
In recent weeks updates to applications have emerged in Google Play Store which give users the ability to optimise games for Xperia PLAY's unique gamepad set up. This concept is quite simple in theory but in practice is quite difficult to set up and took our very own Mod-Father of PLAY to work it all out. Before we get you all of you confused, rest assured we have two two tutorials if you want to get this set up yourselves but this is for rooted users only at this time. So if you are regulars to our rooted zone, this is definitely for you.
So back to the theory of this concept. What these apps do is map your Xperia PLAY controls to the on screen controls of touch games. So just like you would map the buttons for an emulator to the PLAY pad, you will map the buttons and then drag the touch areas over the on screen controls. Naturally, as you can imagine, different games have different button configurations so there is a lot of setting up to this. Some touch screen games even have the ability to remove the on screen controls, leaving a complete PLAY optimise finish.
We have tried two of the best apps for this, both have their own pros and cons to the set up. To make it even more fun, one version is for the current Gingerbread OS and the other is for the upcoming ICS OS update. Both are a full tutorials with step by steps, even little corrections from the developers themselves which I find ammusing.
