Asphalt 7: Heat Coming Soon

Gameloft's flagship racer is about to return in it's seventh instalment. How's it looking?
Well the most important news is that it's clear Gameloft is continuing to support the Xperia PLAY, despite the fact that it is now nearly 18 months old. They confirmed via PocketGamer that it will be fully optimised for the Xperia PLAY just like one of PLAY's classic titles Asphalt 6. In the mobile world, that is a bloody long time. Handsets tend to vanish after a year but as we all know, the Xperia PLAY is no ordinary smart phone.
Ice Cream Sandwich devices like the Xperia S, Xperia Ion and Tablet S now have the proper USB game pad configuration along with other generic high end touch screen phones from Samsung and HTC. So you can connect console controllers via USB adapters or Bluetooth and play console quality games like Shadowgun, Grand Theft Auto or even some classic Sonic the Hedgehog action. Xperia PLAY is the only one at the moment which has this gamepad built in to the device and I think for companies like Gameloft, it's a showcase opportunity to the real console market.
Asphalt 6 was one of the original titles for the Xperia PLAY and everyone who has bought as PLAY has no doubt played it. It was an incredible game and probably one of the first that I noticed actual video games were now available on phones, rather than shoddy mobile versions. It had nice graphics, it was smooth and offered plenty of gameplay and even online or local multiplayer. So let's hope that they follow it up with as much care and love as they did with Nova 2 to Nova 3. It should be out anytime now.
